Upcycle: Superhero Cape

While I have a slew of ideas for presents for little girls' birthdays, boy birthday ideas are a little tougher to come by. It's not easy to felt a transformer. I usually cave in and head to Target for plastic crap when a boy birthday comes along.

But it gets easier when you're told not to buy presents, and the birthday boy is as marvelous as Mr. Quintanomos, who celebrates his 2nd birthday today. In his case, a superhero cape is the obvious choice.

It doesn't hurt that I get to use a little more of the bajillion yards of satin fabric Rubester sent down many months ago.

Thanks to Addie for modeling.

  1. Hey Girl! Great cape! I had to share, I made one for Kyle when he was about 2ish also, a pattern I found online somewhere. I just showed Kyle Addie modeling so he modeled too (although I have no idea how to post pictures in your comments). Mr. Q will LOVE his!

  2. You have another friend with the name Quinn? Mine was 2 when you met him...no he's almost 10, if you can believe it.

Cute cape. I am enjoying reading about upcycling and crafts on your blog.

  3. I had this crazy dream last night. It was clean, remarkably, and inspired by this cape. The greatest gift ever in the history of the world. I know this from experience as my first cape was actually a fitted sheet, and once while riding my bike it got caught in my spokes and almost pulled my head off. Then, on my 19th b-day, my mother made me an actual cape, a santioned cape, I guess, that really rocketed me to stardom. Anyway, I'm going to try and materialize this dream on paper.
