You captured some assumptions and misunderstandings that I think are often under the surface in exchanges between parents and non-parents, stuff I've also mused on a lot. Three quick things: 1) You minimize the strength and achievement of your and E's parenting, which is exemplary and more than most of our generation ever got. 2) Some of us haven't so much "chosen" our childless path, it just seems to have turned out that way (e.g., choice, resources, and timing not lining up), so the subject position isn't necessarily anti- just different. 3) It's so funny you think our houses are always tidy and shit- and chaos-free, and our jammies don't have accidental schmutz on them.

-ndwAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4377149308801306604.post-61857778775273522022012-02-04T12:22:00.278-08:002012-02-04T12:22:00.278-08:00Oh so much to say, so much to say...for now, just ...Oh so much to say, so much to say...for now, just Love. ~mshAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4377149308801306604.post-50008085723588341502012-02-03T10:09:54.944-08:002012-02-03T10:09:54.944-08:00I know you will, Sloat! I guess I would define it as your identity or "position" in relation to others.

By the way, you said in one sentence what I tried to say in a whole post.
